San Angelo Area Foundation Announces Grant Awards for Fall 2003

Steve Stephens, board chairman of the San Angelo Area Foundation announced this week the following grant awards from component funds of the Foundation totaling $92,410. These are the first grant awards from the new community foundation formed one year ago.

Discretionary Fund

The United Way of the Concho Valley Success by Six Initiative $10,000
James Phillips Williams Foundation scholarship for teacher training $5,000

San Angelo Cultural Affairs $10,000
Fort Concho Foundation $10,000
San Angelo Youth Baseball Foundation $10,000
Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd $10,000
Calvary Lutheran Church $ 4,965
San Angelo Civic Ballet $ 3,000
Salvation Army $ 3,000

Agency Funds

Angelo State University Meat Science Fund $13,102

The Foundation also manages funds for the San Angelo Schools Foundation under a collaborative agreement. The Grants for Teachers Fund awards grants to SAISD teachers and their schools to aid them in funding creative and innovative techniques in their classrooms. The following grants totaling $13,343.10 were awarded from the Grants for Teachers Fund:
