San Angelo Area Foundation manages more than 150 component funds designed to assist donors in accomplishing a variety of charitable objectives. Below are some of the types of funds placed with the foundation.
- Discretionary Funds have unrestricted purposes, which provide the foundation with flexibility to address community needs and opportunities as they change over time.
- Field of Interest Funds support areas of particular interest to the donor, such as the arts, education, childrens needs, or services for the elderly.
- Donor Advised Funds provide donors with the opportunity to recommend grants from the fund they establish.
- Endowment Funds Supporting Nonprofit Organizations are established for the specific purpose of supporting operations or programs of particular nonprofit organizations. They can be established either by a donor or by the nonprofit itself.
- Scholarship Funds are established by donors to provide students with opportunities to further their education or training.
- Split Interest Charitable Trust Funds and Charitable Gift Annuities are established by donors to provide income opportunities for the donors or their heirs while also supporting charitable causes.
Types of gifts
The foundation is positioned to accept various types of assets in the creation of permanent charitable funds including:
- Cash or receivable income
- Appreciated securities, such as stocks and bonds
- Closely-held stocks
- Retirement accounts
- Real estate
- Oil and gas interests
- Life insurance
