Beneficiary: Angelo Civic Theatre
Fund: San Angelo Area Foundation Discretionary Endowment Fund
The Need:
Angelo Civic Theatres current facility is a 1950s restored movie theater with charm and potential, but is limited due to inadequate space and outdated electrical and mechanical services.
The Theatre desires a long term solution that would include a new home, adequate space for youth programming, and a second performance stage, but the current facilitys infrastructure needs must be addressed in the short term to provide viability, safety, and continuation of quality entertainment and arts education.
The Response:
The Foundation was able to make a grant from its discretionary endowment fund to assist in the remodeling efforts made possible by a grant given by the San Angelo Health Foundation.
The current project converts an old rehearsal area into a small, contemporary second performance stage with a separate entrance. It also creates a better storage space for theatrical properties and additional safety, equipment, and mechanical upgrades.
The Future:
This grant truly helps us continue the programming we offer our community. The arts play a significant role in the life of our city, and in the future for our children, both educationally and socially, reports Lisa Roberts, Executive Producer of Angelo Civic Theatre.
We believe the Theatre provides one of the best venues in our city for intergenerational arts programming, which is key to the growth and vitality of our citizenry. This grant enables us to continue to provide such programming.
The Foundation will be able to support these and other worthy projects from now on, due to the gifts made to this discretionary endowment fund.
