San Angelo Area Foundation

Annual Report - 2005

Collaboration with the San Angelo Schools Foundation

Created in 1988, the San Angelo Schools Foundation provides scholarships to area youth and assistance to teachers in the San Angelo Independent School District.

The Schools Foundation and the San Angelo Area Foundation formed a collaborative partnership in 2003. The Area Foundation handles day-to-day administrative duties of fund management and administration of the scholarship and grants for teachers programs. Directors of the Schools Foundation focus on raising funds for these worthwhile programs.

The arrangement is a clear success: scholarship funds and grant funds have grown substantially in the first two years. More than $6,500 in scholarships were awarded in 2005. More than $150,000 has been awarded to area teachers since 1988 through the grants for teachers programs. Today, teachers and other area contributors donate to these funds to further the dream of helping any local student go to college, as well as helping area teachers with additional funds to enrich the classroom experience for area children.
